Is the World Actually Close to Disclosure?

The question has me thinking quite a bit lately. It started out when I got involved a bit in Paul and Mac's discussion on contact, and what it's ramifications would be, and it's continuing now with the recent Larry King show on UFOs and the upcoming event at the National Press Club.

It's actually quite an interesting time to be keeping an eye on UFOs and the public reaction recently. O'Hare really seemed to open a lot of eyes, and got mainstream press that wasn't purely mocking. As little as it seemed at the time, it really looks like a step forward now. Of course, recently, Dennis Kucinich was asked about his sighting during a "debate" for democratic nominee for President, which only served to keep the ball rolling it seems.

Momentum seems to be gaining now, even though I was prepared to be completely and totally offended by the Larry King special. To be clear, I haven't actually seen it yet, but I've read the transcript available here. It seems to have been a fairly level headed discussion, on national TV, to a large audience. I almost feel like I'm suddenly in a parallel world here. Have we actually gotten to the point where it's not taboo to discuss this?

From what I've seen lately, I'll stick with my previous thoughts on whether or not we're ready. Some people are, some probably aren't, but it's time to understand what's going on around us. Of course, disclosure and contact are different, but I think they'd likely have similar results.

Imagine all of the world's governments coming forward with what they know and what they don't know. Would we suddenly realize an alien presence among us? Would we be forced to accept cryptoterrestrials right here on our planet? Perhaps we still wouldn't know what, exactly, we were dealing with, but we'd understand that there was something legitimate going on that we had to study. Any one of those would certainly open up a new dialogue amongst all of us.

It seems to me that we must be reaching some sort of a critical point in the study of UFOs. Whether that's "disclosure" or whether that's the opening of legitimate scientific study I'm not sure, but I'll take either one at this point.

I'll certainly be keeping my eyes open over the next few days to see what comes out of the upcoming National Press Club event. It seems like if there's ever going to be something of importance come out of such a gathering, it's going to be this one(and certainly not Hoagland's). There actually seems to be some sort of momentum gathering in this regard, and I, for one, hope it continues.

I've been having similar thoughts recently. There seem to be a lot of subtle moves afoot, which of themselves, don't seem like much. But when you add them together ...

I've no idea how people would react to disclosure or contact. I think I would be both intrigued and terrified at either scenario. But I guess I'd handle it eventually, and as long as any visiting ETs could prove benevolent and trustworthy, I'd probably come to accept them. I'd really rather not think about 'what ifs' in relation to non-friendly ETs!

I agree Siani. I think, however, if ETs were not friendly, chances are we wouldn't be continuing to live our lives relatively unchanged for so long. Chances are they'd have advanced technology, so they'd probably be able to do whatever they wanted.

It's a fun thought puzzle, but I'm intrigued by all of the rumblings about disclosure lately. It does seem that something's going on.

"...the game is afoot Watson..."

I agree something is coming to a head. Just what, I have no idea.

My own theory is that an alien Bracewell Probe has been in our outer solar system for generations, utilizing intelligent nanobots to study us and perhaps influence us at key historical points.

Science-fiction author Phillip K. Dick expounded on this theme in his novels Radio Free Ablemuth and VALIS(Vast Active Living Intelligence).

Dick kept a personal journal in which he wrote down several "mystic" visions that scared and amazed him beyond belief. Some say that VALIS was semi-autobiographical.

Odd that during the past 25 years that several of Dick's stories have been made into movies; Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly and Paycheck to name a few.

So I ask you, "Is the game afoot?"

When the o'hare was all over the net and news I had feeling something was coming, it was pretty exciting, but then it died off. And with the recent bigfoot photos, that's had some huge publicity, that will die off to.

I'm guessing here, but over the coming years I feel that more stories of the type will make main stream news. Maybe it's a way of slowly getting us all used to the concepts and then one day bam, full disclosure.

I'm just not looking forward to having to buy me an Alien invasion survival kit, coz you know that industry's going to be profitable.

Dad, I've often thought that exactly what you're saying is quite possible. I've always been a huge PKD fan, too. Some of the best reading I've ever done in my life, and those two are great books.

Rand, I wonder if it's ramping up to something. I also wonder if it's ramping up to something "purposefully", ie, is someone making sure that it grows on us all ever so slightly, like the proverbial frog in the pot. Then one day it's just accepted that there's something more going on and we didn't even really realize it.
