More Mythological Connections

Just prior to Albert Bourne's passing, there was an interesting article put up on the Book of THoTH front page.

Written by the same author as "UFOs a Modern Phenomenon? Think again" Michael Bourne this time goes through Irish folklore and makes a case that the faeries that lived in the "Otherworld" were the resident's best explanation for the UFO phenomenon at the time in his article "Tuatha De Danann - Ancient Aliens?"

Obviously, a common theme around here and elsewhere, and Mike makes an interesting case for the common cause for some common European mythology and our modern UFO incidents.

The Orion Zone Review

Anyone who knows me knows that I've had a hard time reviewing Gary David's amazing book "The Orion Zone: Ancient Star Cities of the American Southwest" in part because it's influenced my own theories on the history of modern cultures so much. Sometimes it's hard to remember in my own mind where Gary's research ends and my own begins. In that sense, "The Orion Zone" is likely to be my most used reference material when I'm looking for connections in the histories of North American cultures. So, instead of a traditional review of this book, let me point you toward an article I wrote which was inspired by Gary's work first.

After reading "The Orion Zone" last year I immediately realized that it tied directly into much of what I'd been thinking about and beginning to research previously. His book inspired me to write a couple of articles, and immediately push my research further. After a fairly long layoff, I've been back to it recently, and "The Orion Zone" is once again a starting point for learning about the past.

The opening premise of his book, and thus the title, is that there are cities in what is now Arizona which are laid out in precise relation to the constellation Orion. How is it possible that people from so far back could have so laid out their villages with such amazing precision? You can see from the diagram below just how amazing the correlation is, with the major angles being off by only a few degrees.

From there the book continues to amaze with connections. For instance, the Hopi deity Masau'u's name translated is actually "grey" just like the color. Representations of him are often almost identical to what modern UFO/alien buffs would call the greys. Could that be a coincidence?

The Hopi have ancient stories about paatuwvota or flying shields. When rock art of these are compared to modern stories, once again, they are often identical to modern day reports of UFOs. In the mythology of the Hopi, these paatuwvota are also said to have rescued people, and directed the way to safety in times of world catastrophes. Interestingly enough, at times they led the way to what the Hopi called "the ant people" who have an interesting correlation of their own.

Many people today are familiar with the term Anunnaki. The stories of the Annunaki are taken from Sumerian legends and writings, and have been popularized by Zecharia Sitchin. The interesting connection to the Hopi is that the Hopi term for ant is anu. The Hopi term for friend is naki. Put the two together, and the term ant friend becomes anu naki. Once again, how could this be simple coincidence?

Did the Hopi have a helping hand from what most people would call extraterrestrial life today? It's an interesting question, and one that Gary does a fine job of hashing out. While at it, he also manages to tie the Hopi into Egyptian history as well as Mayan history. Most people are familiar with the idea that the Giza plateau containing the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx seems to have a layout resembling Orion's belt. Is it possible that two societies on opposite sides of the planet just happened to spend so much time laying out mirrors of the sky above them? Both focused on one particular constellation in the sky amongst thousands of stars? Could these societies have had common ancestry? It's certainly something I plan on writing more about in the future.

Another fascinating connection made in this book is where the Hopi believe they "emerged" from. There's a particular star in the Orion constellation which they describe as their extraterrestrial origin. This star has been tagged by NASA as being a prime candidate for having Earth-like planets orbiting it. Once again, out of all of the stars which the Hopi could see, why choose that one? What are the chances of it being such a good candidate for life?

At this point, I realize that I could quite literally go on and on with the amazing research Gary's done to the point at which I'd have basically rewritten his book. I'm continually fascinated by the connections which Gary's made, and I feel it's a certainty that at some point much of it's going to have to revolutionize the way we look at the history of people on this planet, and how and when they got where they did. The common past of people from around the world is also something I think you'll be hearing much more about in the future as these links are uncovered.

So, go buy the book. It's a worthwhile investment in some groundbreaking information which may just change the way you look at things.

Also, I'm happy to say, Gary's got another book coming out next year titled "Eye of the Phoenix" which is sure to be another hit. I haven't heard all that much about it yet, but I'm excited about it as I hear that once again, our research paths seem to be crossing. Between him and Gary Osborn, it seems as though I just have to think about an article topic, do a little research, and they announce a book or write an extensive article about the same topic! Synchronicity at its finest.

One last thing, Gary was kind enough to do the Book of THoTH podcast interview for the next episode. I'm just downloading it now to give it a listen, and I'm sure it's going to be full of great info in his half hour discussion with Jeremy Vaeni. Be sure to check back here on Tuesday for the link to the streaming and downloadable versions.

Isn't it funny how synchronicity works? It never fails to amaze me, frankly. With all of the reading I've done recently, and not so recently, I've had an article percolating in my head for a while now. Only over the last few days have I gotten serious about putting down a semi-outline and putting together the references and quotes I'd like to use.

The topic is semi-mythological, historical, related to the megalithic constructions, ancient societies and what I believe they might be telling us about the future of our planet.

So what happens as I'm pulling all of this together? Gary Osborn sends me an article he's written and would like me to read over. I've only read the first page so far, but he might as well have taken it directly out of my head and written the intro to my article for me.

So, look for Gary's article here and on Book of THoTH's front page shortly, and possibly mine afterward if I have anything left to say when he's done!

First off, there's a big announcement on the book competition for the upcoming book, Book of THoTH: Wisdom of the Ages. The competition has been extended for one month, until January 31st! Reality Press was so happy with the entries so far, we've decided to do one more month to let some more people get in on the competition. So, make sure you get something entered, get published and win some cool prizes!

On the front page of Book of THoTH right now there's some excellent articles. There's two in-depth interviews from MAD. The first one is an interview with actor Michael Moriarty titled, "Set in Stone" and the second one is called "Planting the Flag" and it's with Henry Rollins.

The other two articles currently on the front page are both by one of my favorite authors; Mr. Gary David. He's got an excellent article that ties in with some of my writings and thoughts(which of course I've come to find out that he wrote and thought about first. Great minds, you know...) called "Orion’s Global Legacy: A Celestial Plan?" This is a nice look at the global influence of Orion, and some thoughts as to why it appears to have been so popular all over the ancient world. The second article that he has up is "The Anthills of Orion" which takes a look at the fascinating story of the Ant People of the ancient Hopi culture. Both are must reads.

I got a nice e-mail from author Shannon Dorey who read my latest article and thought it tied very nicely into a pair of books she's written about Dogon mythology and the Nummo. I knew a fair bit about the subjects she tackles, but did not know that much of the Hopi mythology matched the Dogon's so closely, and that so many of the stories were very similar and sound almost identical.

I'll certainly be taking a look at her books as soon as I get the time, and I'll write more about them after I do. In the meantime, you can check out her sites here and here.

Up at the Book of THoTH front page there's three new articles.

First up is an article by Gary David called "The Tau (or T-shaped) Cross: Hopi-Maya-Egyptian Connections".

Next one is an article titled "Ancient Indian Vimanas" by Ashini Pandit.

And, last, but hopefully not least, "Mythology, the Ages of Man and the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis" written by me.

I've finished another article for the Book of THoTH. I'm never sure I like my writing, and I always tweak and change things until I simply get tired of seeing it anymore. Sometimes I think that leads to disjointed stories, but you can all have a look before(hopefully) it gets to the front page.

I hope everyone in the US has a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. I haven't posted much the last couple of days because I've been trying to get ready for the holiday, interview at new jobs, and put the finishing touches on an article I've been writing that looks at Hopi mythology. Here's a little preview of a rough draft of the section about the First World to have a look at until I manage to get the whole thing finished and entered into the Book of THoTH article competition. I'll be back on Friday!

The First World

The newly created people are living in it, and they follow the way of the Creator, at first. However, as they advance, and as they grow farther apart from the "Gods" who made them, many of them begin to stray from the way of the Creator. As they grow out and form different villages they begin to fight. While they were originally taught that they are all brothers, "The Talker" who looks like a bird, tells them all that they are different. Then Katoya, who has the form of a snake, teaches them to be warlike.

At this point Sotuknang came with the "sound as of a mighty wind and suddenly appeared" before the ones who still followed the ways of the creator. He told them, "We have decided this world must be destroyed and another one created so you people can start over again. Your inner wisdom will give you the sight to see a certain cloud, which you will follow by day, and a certain star, which you will follow by night." They followed the star by night, and the cloud by day, facing ridicule from the ones who had strayed along the way, until they came to a big mound where the Ant People lived. They opened up the anthill, and the good people lived in there for a while where the light came from "tiny bits of crystal" which "had absorbed the light of the sun"

Once again, this is an interesting part of the story which seems to tie into other stories, and hints at a fantastic ability by these "Gods" and how they travel. How is it that Sotuknang manages to simply appear before them, and why the distinctive sound each time? How does he manifest a cloud that they can follow each day, which then turns into a moving star to follow each night? Are the "Gods" simply using some sort of a flying craft?

For those in the Western world who tend to be more familiar with the Bible than any other stories or mythology, this might very well sound similar to the Star of Bethlehem. This "star" is said to have appeared, and moved differently than any other star in the sky. From the bible, in Matthew 2:

"After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed."

Just as in this story, people followed it, and in the Bible the Magi ended up at the birthplace of Jesus; here, they end up in a slightly different location.

Another story that seems to tie in very well with this one is in the ancient Indian text "The Vimaanika Shastra" in which ancient flying machines, called Vimanas, are discussed. One of the ways in which it states that the flying machines can be disguised is as a cloud. Perhaps what is being discussed here is a flying craft which can be disguised as a cloud by day, and can illuminate during the night time so that it can continue to be followed.

Also, what struck me in this part of the story is how the people described the source of light which they lived with while underground. It seems to me this is how people with very little technological knowledge, having never seen indoor lighting, might describe electric lights, or even solar powered lighting. Solar technology "absorbs" the sunlight, and then gives it back on command. Perhaps if this technology were described to a non-technological society, this is how they would then relate to it.

When the people who continued to follow the ways of the Creator are safe in the anthill, the destruction of the first world commenced. "Fire came from above and below and all around...until there was nothing left except the people safe inside the womb of the earth." It had not taken him long to destroy the world, nor would it take long before he created another, but it was taking a long time for the world to cool down. Finally, with the world cooled enough for the people to come back out they noticed just how different the new world was. "He changed its form completely, putting land where the water was, and water where the land had been."
