A Review of the new book State of Denial by Bob Woodward
Since other reviewers have so astutely stated the unvarnished truth about our State of Denial, I shall skip right to the "rest of the story." That is, what is not being reported is the impact of our warfare policies on the planet as a whole in terms of natural disasters. I mean sociological upheveals lead to instability in the "mind-field" as the Princeton University Project on Global Consciousness is revealing. Specifically, it is not a "coincidence" that we are having some of the worst outbreaks of floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, firestorms in history at the precise moment that we have an "us versus them" Commander-in-Chief trying to police the world of "evil-doers." Has anyone factored in the "dis-eases" that we are triggering in the atmosphere itself? Are we brewing worldwide pandemics because we are out-of-balance? How about an electromagnetic pole shift as in Tilt: Game Over? That would turn-out-lights everywhere for certain and I believe that is indeed where we are headed today: a global "black-out" implemented by the ... planet: Gaia. Thus, please don't think for a second that I am some intellectual egghead spouting off peace-on-earth dribble; there are very bad people in this world and GWB has managed to piss them off. They don't give a damn about you and me either but the way to deal with them is containment, isolation as in solitary confinement -- not a "shoot first, ask questions never plan." No, I am a bit "militant" myself, in truth a disabled Vietnam-era veteran, father of 3 adults and grandfather of 8 children and as I write this heartfelt blurb I have a son-in-law on the frontlines in Iraq and my niece is standing guard literally on the DMZ in North-South Korea. By the way, Iraq has redefined the word for "frontline," that means now everywhere inside the map of a country we are seeking o "liberate!" The other word for that is "civil war," but GWB ignores that as well. In brief, not only is our country divided on Iraq and the words we use to describe this fiasco, but Mother Earth is revolting at our inhumane treatment of the environment as well. Worse yet, we don't even have a leader that will legislate a limit to toxic pollutants in the air we breathe! Now that is a no-brainer folks, isn't it? On every single important topic that faces us today, the [lack of]response is the same from this bunch that administers us from the bunkers beneath our White House: deny, deny, deny a problem even exists. Yet, the rest of the story gets worse. We've killed hundreds of thousands of non-combatants in Iraq directly and indirectly and what is our reply to the world by the President: "I don't agree with the numbers." Say what? How about a collective, "We are sorry." Or, maybe, "God have mercy on us for we have sinned!" I mean the last time I peeked at the Ten Commandents there was a line in there that said: "Do not kill." When you go to war on a lie, isn't that cold-blooded murder? Perhaps, GWB can get the Supreme Court to overrule God on our behalf? In my opinion, as a psychotherapist, I see that Bush is at war within himself, a man divided, split-off from tegrating his thoughts and feelings moment-by-moment, plain and simple. He simply grits his teeth and parrots the party-line: "Stay the Course." No doubt there is an "axis of evil," but, unfortunately, he is at the center of it, and every time he espouses a new "foreign" policy, our old domestic blood, guts, and treasure is shed, unwisely spent on "his" global oil enemies. By all indications, GWB is a disturbed human being, according to many mental health care professionals an "untreated alcoholic" full of anger, so won't someone in that inner circle at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue please get him some psychiatric help at Walter Reed Army Medical Center? Now that would be tax-payers money well spentin fact. Recall the definition of mental illness is a person doing the same dysfunctional behavior over and over again, but all the while they truly expect to get different results! Can you say N-o-r-t-h K-o-r-e-a boys and girls? Speaking for myself, Ican't stand -- or stomach -- more of our loved ones sacrificed to "his" greedy gods of war, a.k.a., Department of Offense Contractors -- used to be "Defense" prior to 2001. You know before GWB implemented the "pre-emptive strike" policy, the "dead or alive" dictum. Who gives a damn about democracy? I do, and we need to practice it in the USA first and foremost! Fortunately, there is a ray of hope in our combat helmet-lining, just as Chief Seattle shared in a vision he saw, I am now hearing something similar from my clients undergoing future-life progression as well. They see a far better planet in era-2012, after the dust settles from a series of major natural disasters-to-come. But this is what this wise-old Indian said in 1854 to then territorial Governor Issac Stevens in the now State of Washington: "Our dead never forget the beautiful world that gave them being. They still love its winding rivers, its great mountains and its sequestered vales, and they ever yearn in tenderest affection over the lonely-hearted living, and often return to visit and comfort them ... Every part of this country is sacred to my people. Every hillside, every valley, every plain and grove has been hallowed by some fond memory." Let's pray it's not to late to save our war-torn planet and its people.Dr John Jay Harper, www.gnosisbookdvd.com, www.johnjayharper.com
