It's been many months since I posted anything
here about the living-pterosaur investigations,
so here's the good news:
General announcement of the
results of the 2006 expedition:
In Granbury, Texas, on November 20,
2006, Paul Nation was interviewed
by Jonathan Whitcomb, who found his
testimony highly credible and his
video footage completely convincing:
Earlier in the month, in a remote
area of the interior of the mainland
of Papua New Guinea, Paul had video-
taped the bright glow of what the
local villagers call "indava." The
two investigators believe it is the
same kind of creature called "ropen"
on Umboi Island. They believe it is
a long-tailed pterosuar.
Paul learned about this remote
mountainous area of Papua New
Guinea from Jacob Kepas, a pastor
who went on the Woetzel-Guessman
expedition of 2004.
Paul's funding for the 2006 expedition
was mostly from the generous contribution
of Alex Aguila, who learned about ropen
investigations from reading the book
"Searching for Ropens," by Whitcomb.
(After Aguila inquired about how he
could contribute to an expedition,
Whitcomb referred him to Paul.)
Early in November, about 160 miles north-
by-northwest of the capital, Port Moresby,
Paul had seven sightings of what investi-
gators call the "ropen-light." One night,
he videotaped two of the distant glowing
forms as they flew together up and over
a nearby mountain ridge. Although this
video footage shows no shape of the
creatures, it is the first visual
evidence for investigators in the
Western world. In confirms that the
bioluminescent glow is very bright.
What wonderful news to those who hope
that these elusive creatures are living
pterosaurs! Each particle of evidence
increases support that will eventually
result in a major expedition.
Jonathan Whitcomb

JDW!!!
Hey, glad to see you back!
I've been wondering how the search for the ropen was going!
I'm glad they got some video of it, even if it was at night. Hopefully you or they can get some daylight shots!
Good luck and I hope you are successfull!
Jim

Glad you stopped back in jdw. Keep us informed! Good luck on the investigations.

Hello jdw! So glad to hear this. Is any of the video on your site? Would love to see it.
There's to be a documetary, The real lost world. They speak of a pteridactal type animal seen in parts of S. America. Parts where even the natives will not venture into. I doubt very much they have anything taped, but it's interesting these sightings are else where also.
Please keep us posted, so glad there was another expedition.
Here's jdw's sites and info on the Ropen for those who weren't here back then.
Thank you, Kira. I'm glad you're still active with these postings.
The video of the two ropen-lights (called "indava" by locals) is
owned by Paul Nation, who took the video. I had permission to
make copies for certain investigators (one for me), and for an
expert who has been analyzing the footage.
We hope to get the complete results of the analysis by about the
end of this month. The expert has already ruled out airplanes and
meteors, but we knew that already. I hope to make some kind of
announcement within a few weeks or so; details depend on what
permission we get from the video copyright holder. I hope you'll
see at least one of us on a televised news broadcast before long,
for we who have searched for these creatures are VERY excited.
We hope for an expedition in 2007, and I hope a professional
wildlife photographer will be part of it.

even though a lot of the things mainstream scientists teach us is probably a lie, i do remember that watching a program on the discovery channel about dinosaurs once and it mentioned how pterosaurs of different types would travel between south america and north america to I believe somewhere in europe (could be wrong).
So basically my point is that what if this is true and people only just so happen to see them in their age old traditional migration.
I find it to be a plausable scenario

Wow JDW. Good stuff dude. I read about your research here a while ago & was also hoping to here any updates. I do believe there are more than a few prehistoric beasts or their modern couterparts.
There are way too many untouched parts of the world & too many almost identical native legends from all parts. I put 2 & 2 together. S. & Central Americas, the Congo, Great Rift, Indonesia, the oceans depths, the mountain systems, etc... all have hidden treasures amongst them.
In my opinion, the great lizards were too successful to have all been the victims of extinction.
How about any new species besides the ropen? Even the flora must be bewildering. I definitely need to see more.
Like I said, Wow.

Please keep us posted jdw! I'd love to see the televised broadcast too, so let us know when.
This really needs a good photographer along, much luck on the next expedition!
Sure wish I could do more than just talk about it.

Thank you, Kira (and everybody else). I appreciate your support.
I'm still waiting for the final report on the two ropen-lights: maybe
next week; the expert who is analyzing the footage told us they
are definitely not meteors or airplanes. I just heard a rumor
that another expedition team has gotten video footage of a
similar light in Papua New Guinea; this is recent news and they
might not even be back in the States yet (I'll try contacting
them today).

My personal belief, and yes I know I always do this, is that it would be foolish to believe that every known dinosaur of the earth's past has died out. Now sure we still have alligators and other relatives to the dinosaurs around that we all know of. But the fact that many native tribes throughout the world speak of, and even describe, certain types of thought-to-be-extinct dinosaurs must be more than a coinsedence.
As it is the same for wildmen (i.e. Bigfoot) it is almost certainly the same for dinosaurs and that is that there are many isolated, remote, and unexpolored regions throughout the world in which these creatures could in fact exist.
If any of you haven't already you should look into the Ica Stones which are just one of many fascinating peices to the puzzle that dinosaurs may still exist.

Sorry that this is taking so long, but the final report on those
two indava lights should be ready any day now. For now:
The lights were not made by any airplane or meteor. They
also have no plume, so there was no fire involved. In addition,
using 3-D imaging analysis, the physicist learned that at the
center one of the images, the intensity drops off slightly:
It was not produced by a lantern or flashlight.
I hope to have the report soon. Thank you for your
patience!

Thank you for your patience. After receiving the 41-page scientific
report, it was a few more days before I could get just an excerpt
prepared for web pages (with explanations in plain English).
Here is the first page of the simplified report (introduction):
The significance? I believe this is the first visual evidence to enter
the United States: the bioluminescence of one or two living
pterosaurs! There is no form visible: just two lights. But there
should be much more to come, I hope within the next two years.
Why? Interest is increasing and credibility is growing as well. That
means funds for more expeditions and all it takes is one well-
planned major expedition to get good photos and video footage of
these creatures in Papua New Guinea.
