kat nips at the brandy
kat naps on the floor
kat sups on milk and honey
kat a pult-ice when you’re sore.

kat a tonic for any soul
kat a comb she needs, no brush
kat a lyst of funny poems
kat a log who keeps no score.

Neat Kat. I found it a bit kat a tonic. And kat a clysmic. But it was definitely not kat a strophic.

I have never read such profound poetry since my visit to Kat-mandu.

Another weird poem:

An Ode to Albuquerque, New Mexico

Contemplating the wonder of chicken noodle soup,
I begin to cry silently.
And then I wonder why my dog is asleep.
So I wake him up.
Join me Eurynome in celebration
Of bathtubs with flower decals on the bottom
I think of all the people I’ve eaten,
The Norwegians taste best.
With a heavy load on my mind
I am reminded of a game of checkers.
In the dark we can hear better than we can see.
But it doesn’t matter anymore,
Because we can’t touch what we only hear
I think I’ll go to Boston next week.
To see The Statue of Liberty.

Damn, if that does not bring up some thoughts/memories. Nice Bubba.

Wish we could learn from what we can hear. :)

Bubba, I found your Ode to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be so moving that I am forwarding it to my friend who lives in Albuquerque.

(PS: Why is Albuquerque so weird to spell? :?)

As soon as I can make up a story about how the name came to be I'll tell you. Hint: It has to do with a man named Al who invented Bar B Que along with his brother Burt.

I thought it might have something to do with a quirky albacore tuna. :?

Nah. If that were the case it would have been named Alburquirky Tuna, New Mexico. And no one would live there 'cause who want's to live in a town named .....quirky Tuna. Well...besides Wrinkly.

Nah it was definitely named after Al and Burt's Bar B Que.

For Neb, How Albuquerque came to be.

In 1823 a Franciscan monk named Monk Burt and his brother, Monk Albert (his converts called him Al cause he told them you can call me Al) were attempting to come up with something to entice the Native Americans to come to their New Mexico mission church. They started to experiment with foods ‘cause they figured that everyone had to eat and if they came up with a real tasty and different food for after service meals the crowds would flock to them in droves. Burt suggested they try Albacore tuna as a different food but Al, being real smart for a monk, pointed out that there were no Albacore tuna in New Mexico. Burt said “Oh, well how about a new meat dish. There are a bunch of edible animals running around here.â€

Thanks, Bubba, for the low-down on the naming of Albuquerque. If I'd had teachers like you in high school, maybe history would have been my best subject. :) Or at least maybe I would have showed up every day for class. ;)

Another weird poem:

The loneliness caused by the presence of hate
Is not to be cured with a good meal
Or even a trip to the zoo
Because when the light bulb burns out
As it eventually must, the dishes will still need washing
The darkness hides all, but all is still there
And will cause death and destruction
Even in the bathroom while the commode is flushed
All around the house creatures abound in many forms
But the forms are not the forms we see
A fly is not a fly, a lizard is not a lizard
But a roach is still a roach.
As I travel upward through what is called life
Or downward, or whatever
I think about a dog I once had that ate baked beans
But one day he ate too many and began to fart
So I gave him to an old man that liked to smell dog farts
We were all three pleased
But I feel the dog was the most pleased
Because the old man fed him plenty of beans
Then I got a cat and I was happy

Good...not so weird though. Life...the incurable disease. Hate the curable dis-ease. Least that is what I got from it. Dang, who knows? Nice one Bubba. :)

Sadness is Ungrateful

I ride the ship across a Hong Kong harbour
I see the lights in the hills.
I do not want to be the moth
But I do as the creator wills.

I want a mosquito net
I want definition as in the neon sign.
I want streets crowded with nothingness
Rushing to some banquet divine.

My desire fuels a fire
That becomes strong as weld
To lament the yen spent
Is ingratitude for what you have held.

In Fact, you inspired me...

Jagged edges, rough-made the cut,
Misshapen hedges, now hide the rut
Ugly, twisted, never been misted,
surely done with both eyes shut.
Beneath this forlorn travesty,
commenced the roots of you & me
Knotted, bound, tangled, unsound,
Amazing still, they pierced the ground
Yet, love was nowhere to be found
So, though they're here for all to see,
they can't be named, but misery,
as grotesque as they be...

Walking backwards to see where he had gone,
The little old man walked alone.
Then one day he turned around
And guess what he found?
"I've discovered something new", he said
"The things that were behind are now ahead."

Thank you NL...read your poem. Sounds like you have some questions to answer and I have some answers I would like to question.

I wish us both luck.

Bubba, well, you are cool as all the cucumbers I know. Hope I can be cool one day. Thanks for the poems. :)

Why thank you, but hell's bells Kats, you're already there. Any cooler and I'm gonna nickname you Snow Cone.

Cooked any of those special chicken legs lately? Need any new recipes?
Hey, have a good day.

Bubba! D'oh missed this. Thank you for the snow cone thing. Actually, its been so darn hot down here, I would love to be a snow cone.

No, I haven't made the chicken again. Glad you reminded me. As I recall, peace did reign supreme after I cooked your wonderful recipe. I think if you cannot afford marriage counseling, just make a batch of that chicken, and discuss things over dinner. :)

Sure, I would love more recipes. Never can have too many.

Take care of yourself. :X

Another Weird Poem

As the old man said while drinking a beer,
"What is that I hear?"
"Is it an Angel singing?"
"Or a cell phone ringing?"
"It could be my hearing aid going out."
"Now y'all don't need to shout."
"'Cause I don't want to hear the stupid things y'all say."
"Y'all are all crazy anyway"
"Bartender, don't look at me like that"
Where's my hat?'
"I gotta go home. Y'all are a bunch of losers."
"A bunch of useless boozers"
"I hope y'all all die alright"
"I guess I'll see y'all tomorrow night"

Ha! Bubba nice one. :) I liked it. Okay this may not be real weird, but then again it's all relatives. heh

Confessions of A Movie Lover

What does it all mean?
You'll probably see it on the big screen.
For the one that cowers
Give it two hours.

If adrenaline junky you be
You've got Bruce Lee.
Play me like a banjo
Do the last tango.

Shrink the world and time and space

Distract, disjoint and deride
You'll not feel the slow slide...
Until one day the image flickers
and you see it frame by frame.
Slow realization...
The wizard behind the curtain.

edit to spell right again...pft

Bamboo Wings

Watching the bamboo leaves dance in the breeze
Like hummingbird wings.
They are more graceful in their movement
than my thoughts.

I know they can dance
and still be a part of the tree.
I know they can be a part of a tree
And still fly.
