What should I do when I encounter a violent spirit?

Bearing in mind I`ve never dealt with this before and have no psychic abilities.

Is there any information anyone could give me?..

Can you expound on your experience?
Is this currently happening or is this for future reference?

Something I've read about is the idea of taking control. Let the spirit know that you are not going to play it's game, it is not welcome and you are the one in control. It gains it's power from fear. Don't let it.

I have to agree. I've never come across a malevolent spirit. But i've sent the nice ones packing when I can't be bothered! I just tell them to go away.

I use pepper spray

Concentrate on covering yourself in white light, at the same time as asking it to leave your space.
If this happens often, you might try to visualise surrounding yourself with mirrors.
This should deflect any negative energy.

Mirrors freak me out in my bedroom. It would be a good idea like others have said to just take control, and do not show any fear.

Keep in mind the fact that anything you try must be something you believe in 100%, otherwise it will have no effect on the entities involved. We have many systems of belief on this world, and most can be effective if it's really a part of yourself that you do not doubt.

Well said Daemios. Also the visualising protecting light thig around you is good, even if just to help calm you down.
Bones sometimes wafties (my word for non-carporeal beings, spirits, yadda-yadda) are simply angry and frustrated. After trying to communicate with us in other ways which we often dismiss as our own imagination or just chalk it up to "wierd" and move on, they try to get our attention in ways we cannot ignore. This does not necessarily mean they want to harm you, sometimes they are calling out for help and as they become more desperate so do their means of communication. I had one that got so bad (I just refered to him as "creepy-guy") that I stopped going in my room and didn't want to be at home at all...finally I realized that there must be a reason he was acting this way, so I went to my room and asked him what he wanted. I got that he had lost track of his daughter when they died and needed help. I did what I could and later I felt this wonderful blanket of grattitude, an almost tangible "thank-you" around me for about 6 months after that wherever I went.
Also along the lines of what Daemios said is if something is bugging you there must be aknowledgement on your side for this to occur. People who don't believe in "ghosts" rarely have any trouble with them! I have now made the assertion that there is no "evil", that only love may enter my home and trust that I have protectors coming out the ying-yang. Whatever you do do it in LOVE not fear. Fear begats fear, love begats love, very simple. I think some of these "energies" are created by our own fear, they respond to our fear by giving us what we are fearful of...but if we TRUST that all is well, we are strong and that there is only love, then that is what we will experience.
