I wanted to respond to your post but I am not sure what to say. I do not have any angels or guides so I do not have experiences to share. Do you have some that you could share? Maybe it would get the ball rolling.

I do not have any guides or angels but my relatives have always told stories of them. For instance my father told me he once saw a man standing behind my mom with his hand on her shoulder. He could describe him as being very pleasant to look at. And my mom knows of him, she calls him Anthony actually. Just to get the ball rolling

I find it very hard to believe in any of that.Thinks about the evil things done everyday by Paedo's and such . It's hard to accept or believe that we have an Angel watching over us......if they are they're not very effective are they ?.

I look at it this way; if I need advice of some kind, I may meditate and try to contact various spirits, but if I need protection from physical threats I have other methods available as well.

A criminal may not believe in spiritual protection, but most probably believe that a .45 pistol or 12 ga. shotgun can kill them.

Well I read Sonia Choquette and she has an experience to tell.(She can hear her guides and also feel vibes etc..) once she came home and knew that her brother was in trouble , she ran around to find her brother a few blocks away being bullied and in a perilious situation . and out of the blue her father who never took this route to his work and who infact was not een supposed to be home ,arrived on the spot and saved his son. Yet the father Son never felt as if anything out of ordinary had happened. This is how spirit guides operate.
As for my own experience ... my Father was reversing the car and his assistant was taking his scooty out of the way. My father was lost in his thoughts and reversing the car , and similarly obvilious to the impeding accident was his assistant. And just then I walked into the scene ,where as I dont ever do that (never leave my desk , in short I was not meant to be there) Anyway I just walked in at the right time and evrything went fine. I just feel this is a very regular incident and we are guided all the time , its just that we dont acknowledge it.

Also I now believe intution and great ideas are all spirit gudes speaking to us

Just out of curiosity, why do you believe these abilities do not exist inside yourself? Why do you think it has to be an outsider like an angel or guide giving you this information?

Not doubting you, just trying to understand.

Well it seems to me now that a lot of things we give credit to as our abilities, is infact outside of us. Moreover these guides are a part of us so this distinction between our abilities and outside guidance dosent exsist.

Great people have confided to getting great ideas outside of themselves .. in dreams or through a deseased loved one.

Ok so Sonia says the guides keep bantering all day long and it can be as mundane as saying that you will find a good parking spot if you just drive on a bit . now if we just become more observant to these small things that we think are just ordinary occurances as spirit guidance ..only then we will realise this alternate world.
conversely if we just analyse our thoughts and feelings more closely eg i got a feeling that i might get late going home , instead of dismising it i just remebered and when i got late i acknowledge that this was an intution. even if we dont wish to acknowledge spirit guides we can acknowledge our abilities to be intutive in everyday life.

I am a firm believer in the abilities some folks have tapped into within themselves. I just get a bit curious as to why folks don't want to own it. Seems a lot of folks need to give these abilities to some outside source like humans are not capable of having them. Maybe that is why the human race keeps getting stuck in that push to evolve?

I have to say that I do not disbelieve that other things/energies/etc. are out there communicating with different folks. I do not disbelieve that humans are being watched by many different beings.

But then I am one of the old diehards who believes that if one just works and practices, one can tap into that "may the force be with you" thing from Star Wars.

The ability to hear your guides , is an ability within the person .
Neways , the point here is these cources /books makes you aware of your abilities and long and short of it is Be aware of your abilities, we all have abilty to be more psychic, intutive etc.. etc..

I have two guides I have been talking with since last summer.

One is a female valkyrie type goddess chick and the other is
an old zen master from a past life..

I've never read any Doreen Virtue stuff because it seems to
new age for me, but both of my guides have helped me heal
different issues within my core..

I only contact them now via meditation but they are great
friends, which leads me to wonder if they are figments of
my imagination, archetypes or actual different dimension
beings..

They both say they live on a different plane.. Would love
to hear everybody's thoughts..

At times, I can be very intuitive. I kind of describe it as being tapped mentally on my left shoulder and it is very protective. I've referred to it as my guide because it is protective and a message will just show up in my head - almost as if someone is talking to me. Also I think people like the concept that someone of a possible higher power is watching over them. It is comforting.

I think my personal skills allow me to access something higher. What that is I don't know for sure. So, I go w/ the guide archetype.

I have been in situations and called upon help and had what I consider miracles happen.

Maybe not everyone has one?

... or maybe you have the free will to invite/ invoke them?

I can't speak for others because I don't know what their circumstances are and I can't begin to fathom why other people make the choices they do. Consequently I can't begin to comment on why they have the experiences they do. I can only talk for myself. For me I have no shadow of a doubt that I do have a spirit guide. This is a being that has revealed itself to me on many occasions and I now have a very warm and loving relationship with this being. I have on a number of occasions been protected and helped by him. I can give many examples but I wouldn't want anyone to think that I am trying to prove this or convince you. It is just my direct and personal experience. Like the time I confronted a burglar in my home. My guide took me by the hand and showed me exactly what to do. I ended up having a LOT of mace sprayed directly in my face and not having any adverse effects from it. I breathed it like pure air. Then I chased the burglar off with my quarter staff. The point is I was not at all affected by the pepper spray. Other people entering the room later had to run out as a result of the remnants in the air. So, anyway, I was given a very valuable learning opportunity (long story) whilst being protected from being hurt or harmed.

My spirit guides name is "8" and he is a being of truth. Others have seen him and some have even drawn him. Th reason I need him is that I am essentially a being of a particular type with a particular energy. I have my own strengths and weaknesses. He is like a balance to my energy. He brings strengths and abilities that I do not have. While I am incarnated he is my guide. When I am done with this incarnational cycle he an I will be (are) more like partners.
