Mr Neb and I saw a hummingbird and several honey bees in a flowering crabapple tree down the block. We can't wait for spring to get here "officially"!

I saw today , how good people can be towards relative strangers. I saw today how people of all backgrounds can meet and have serious debate , and light hearted banter.... similar to BoT !
I joined a book group today. My neighbour kindly offered to introduce me , and even drive me there and back. This means I can get out of the house ! .... I am supposed to be buying less books whilst I am out of work , so getting a lift to the library is great!.
They even made me a cuppa and brought it to me so I didnt have to leave my seat.Everyone was very friendly and the book discussions were really interesting. I think I am going to enjoy this monthly meeting!
edited to finish the sentence !

Not today but yesterday I saw my resident hawk flying above the trees, screeching loudly. There are usually two. I wondered what happened to the other one. I hope it was a female and she is nesting. They are beautiful birds. Light tan in color with a banded tail. I will look them up in my bird book.

They're probably hunting all those little yellow birds that you're feeding.
Yesterday morning, I saw a coyote cross the road in front of me. Later that day I saw nothing but rain. This morning from my computer desk, I saw the brightest and prettiest red male cardinal eating from the window mounted bird feeder on the window behind me.

Yesterday we had storms here, after they cleared up about midnight I saw 10 deer scattered in various places. Also saw a possum, a skunk, and I think it was a coyote (didn't get a good look in the spotlight!) and enough rabbits to carpet my house!! Those rabbits are funny to watch. Since I drive around at about 5-15 mph they zig-zag down the road in front of me, sometimes stopping and watching me until I almost get to them, then off they go like a shot! Often there are 3 or 4 on the road ahead of me at the same time!

Saw a new family moving into our street, which makes a total of 4 families living there since the house was bought by a to let firm, 18 months ago!!

So you get the "rabbit escort", as I like to call it, too, eh? lol I'll usually have at least one that refuses to get off the road and just keeps on hopping down the road in front of the car. They'll move over to one side like they're gonna' get off the road and then run back out in front of you. I've stopped and turned my headlights off in case that's what's scaring them, but it doesn't help all the time. I know I followed one rabbit close to a hundred yards down the road one night.
This evening, I had a bat escort. There was one that zig-zagged in the air in front of the car for a few yards, hunting the bugs that fly in front of the headlights I'm guessing.

Today (actually yesterday) I saw two bluebirds sitting on the horns of my cow skull in my rock garden. So guess what? I put up a bluebird house. I hope they stick around. Bluebirds are a sign of good luck.

Ok so this was Sunday 17th Feb, but it was a bit late when we got back. I post it here at this late hour because my day has been otherwise occupied with going to work and being sent home again because I'm still not well enough to go back. The Dr. has signed me off for another week. (Anyone got any spare cash, I could seriously use some. Ahem! I DIDN'T say that!)
Sunday LCM and I took a drive out, and a very gentle walk around some good old churches, which is something we both relish.
We arrived at this one particular church, All Saints Church, in Sutton Courtney, near Didcot.
Unfortunately this one was locked, and we couldn't get inside to take the usual photos. We looked around outside, taking outdoor pics, and were shown these two particular graves by a local couple, who are associated with the church.
The first is the one time prime minister of Britain, Herbert Henry Asquith.
The second is author, George Orwell, his real name being Eric Arthur Blair.
Both these pictures were taken by LCM.
Church Link We may return one day to get the pictures of the inside of the church.

Today I stepped outside to see more trails in the sky overhead.
Good luck w/your bluebird house Bubba, hubby and I made houses in CA. and Arkansas and had good luck w/nesting..... it's amazing to watch the pair turn into a family. We see mountain bluebirds in these parts but none close to home.

Yesterday I saw the shop as I did some grocery shopping.
Today I have seen the inside of my own home, and the meagre views afforded by the windows. Including the astoundingly beautiful... car park! (Bleuch!)
I have also seen some very funny posts on my favourite web site. BoT!

This morning I saw again my resident hawk. This time he was perched in a tree in the upper most branches. I watched him through my field glasses (binoculars). He is a big one. A mocking bird was harrassing him. Dove down and hit him on the back at least once. Mockingbirds hate owls, hawks and crows and cats. The hawk took all the abuse he could stand and flew away. Probably to plan a way to get that mockingbird. Flying away he looked as big as a vulture.

Hm, that reminds me, yesterday I saw my local mockingbird sitting atop a telephone pole halfway down the block, singing up a storm, looking for a mate. Last year he sang all spring and summer long, even after all the other mockingbirds in the neighborhood quieted down to raise their families. He never found a lady-love. Maybe he will this year. He's certainly off to an early start.

Ha! All this talk of spring and love and the only thing I see before me, is blood bath!
Unknown to me the youngest opened one of the rabbit's hutches (currently lock one in while the other roams free, next day they swap places) so had a beast of a time catching them and seperating them and got a bite on my finger for my troubles!
Chided the youngest for opening the hutch and he in turn chided the rabbits for fighting.

Although we didnt get to see the eclipse last night , due to too much cloud , the view from our hotel window this morning was still fabulous !
If anyone has read G P Taylor's Shadowmancer , we stayed in what could easily have been the Lodge ( Raven Hall Hotel , Ravenscar ) . In the distance is Baytown ( Robin Hood's Bay )

Today, I've seen exactly the same as yesterday, but now it's raining!
But tomorrow I will be seeing the lovely LCM. That should make the views more interesting.

I saw something really scary today -- the inside of my teen's room and closet! LOL Invaded his privacy by gathering empty hangers and old clothes. Had the gaul to actually insist he put clean sheets on his bed. What a terrible mother. LOL

Yep, Momma , Robin Hood's Bay , North Yorkshire . In the book I mentioned the heroine's father is supposed to watch out for smugglers... Great Views !
The hotel was built in 1774 and was built on the site of a roman fort from the 5th century I think.... very atmospheric once the mist descends too!

Yeh, LCM it was great , and oh so romantic and * heathcliff * !!
A great couple of days. We could lay in the bed and see the moon and the stars , with no light pollution , but last night when we wanted to see the eclipse it was too cloudy !

Yeah LCM..Northerners get a bad press sometimes..but if you look at the North Yorkshire Moors...the Yorkshire Dales...the coastlines..the Lake District..it takes a lot of beating for scenery...

Spent a bit of time in Sheffield and Doncaster, er, didn't really get to see what Yorkshire had to offer due to the friendliness of the natives. Thought that York Minster is the finer of the two Cathedrals, Lincoln being the other ...

Today I saw (and touched) a ladybug, and a huge worm.
Spring has arrived in this urban/suburban sprawl that used to be a temperate rainforest.
