Hi there Tamarama,

Are there any animal communicators here? How did you learn to do it? Did you take a class or is there a particular book or specific technique that helped you break through? How long did it take before you felt confident in your ability?
I did read Annumela's article (thank you, Annumela!) and her animal communication request posts. I'm trying her suggestions and crossing my fingers.
Cool, glad you read the article, although, I figure it's time I write a part two, as I have some new insights since I wrote that. I hope it helped you a bit!
You know I have been talking to animals telepathically for years...yet I don't refer to myself as an "animal communicator". I feel like it's just one of the things I enjoy doing and I really try not to label myself as one thing or another because who knows...some day I might want to be a plant psychologist or something...one never knows.
I think it's really awesome you are learning to do this. It certainly is a learned skill, and not a "gift" as many refer to it. I firmly believe that with all of these so called "gifts" a bit of practice and believing in yourself means anyone can do it.
The best bit of advice I could give would be to really take the first thought, feeling, impression you get. Really don't try too hard at all to receive, because if you're trying to receive you are not being open and relaxed FOR receiving. If that makes sense? I think it's true with many things that if you try too hard you won't have the best results...if you KNOW you are going to receive (believe in the process and in your ability to do it), then clear your mind and allow a thought/feeling/word to enter it seems to happen much more naturally. I find that first thing in the morning is the best time to connect, but any time of day works as long as you have some quiet and peace. I also prefer to NOT look directly at the animal when I'm "talking" to them and seem to do better all together when the animal is far away or not in my vicinity. I think I get distracted trying to read the animals body language or something like that. Not sure, but when I talk to my animals I make sure I am not looking at them or I close my eyes and sit next to them or something.
Also, I am discovering that there is really a few ways I am communicating here. Some of it is telepathic, but some of it seems to be a little different, like I am getting information off the "grid" (the interconnected spirit-web we all connect to) and sometimes it's a direct connect thing to the animal. Anyhow, Zingdad and I were discussing this yesterday, and decided that it's probably best to not attempt to intellectualize this and find a scientific process to describe it...because it really does seem to be a different experience for everyone and depending on the animal, questions, circumstances can be totally different from situation to situation. All I know is that it seems to work and I enjoy doing it.
For me it came pretty naturally, and I realized that if I thought back, there were many many times where I was communicating but didn't realize it. I think we ALL do this sort of on a subconscious level. Once we realize it's available to us we can bring it into our conscious awareness THEN practice, practice, practice!
Not sure if any of that helps or not! Let me know if there's any more questions you have.
Have fun!
Annu
