Seeing as paranormal and Occult or mystical phenomena are highly subjective...meaning that we unfortunately don't have any solid evidence...how would we then try to at least convince a skeptic to become a little more open minded?

How and why would my mind hallucinate seeing and hearing vampires and demons telling me they were gonna chop me into pieces? where the heck did it come from? Im trying to answer that question right now. Thats why i frequent this board.
Hi mitsurugi,
I've often wondered whether people who have been labeled "schizophrenic" are actually highly receptive to the paranormal. Unfortunately I don't know much about schizophrenia to actually say that as a true statement, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Don't appologize. When it comes to dealing with issues of the mind, I think Dr's are still light years away. Let's not forget that Dr's used to use shock therapy on some patients not all that long ago. If getting this off your chest helps, then by all means.

One of the things I've always wondered is if the makeup of our brain chemistry creates a kind of receiver of certain kinds of psychic signals, for lack of a better term.
If the brain chemistry of a schizophrenic is the right combination of chemicals, could it create a sort of portal into that person's mind? Sort of like having your front door forced open so strangers can enter and mess around.
And for people who don't seem to have these kinds of hallucinations, could it be that their brain chemistry just doesn't lend itself to being breached from the outside?
I don't know if I explained that very well. I think what I'm trying to get at is it's an interplay between inner and outer, brain chemistry and other dimensions or realities. It's just one of the things I wonder about from time to time.

Hi Nebula, I don't disagree with you. I've often wondered myself whether people who have been labeled as Schizophrenic are actually extremely in tune with subtle entities and their influence. If you consider what people think of as "Norm" you can look at it in a sense where we have additional filters, by our own creation, that prohibits us from seeing, talking, and experiencing the paranormal. Someone who has an imbalance, per se, might not have those filters, so they are left sort of defenseless.
What do the drugs do that psychiatrists prescribe? They are, I believe, inhibitors that inhibit certain functions of the brain, thereby keeping the "hallucinations" in check.

Hey man,
I've been diagnosed as a schizo too, and would like to offer my personal
experiences.. First of all, I have weird psychic stuff happen every day of
my life that can't be defined as 'schizo' However, I have hallucinated and
tripped balls too..
My personal take on the altered brain chemistry creates a doorway or
attunes us to different frequencies, ultimately leading into the spiritual
dimension. I've also had telepathy happen a number of times, such as
hearing what a friend would say run through my mind, a few seconds
later they would say it out loud.. That still happens..
As for demons, when I was locked in solitary confinement in jail for 2.5
months I've seen and heard them too.. Oh by the way, doctors still use
electro shock torture on our kind of people..
A friend of mine says that schizo's are the shaman of today, and another
thing I'd like to mention is focusing on the love energy, because love
always conquers evil.. Hope this helped!

I'm diagnozed with that too
I think its a load of balls
It's funny how if you refuse an emergency blood transfusion cos of your religion, they've got to accept that, but if you claim to have had a psychic/occult/religious experience, they dismiss you as 'wacko'
