Hi All ! Keeping in mind my initial admissions as noted in my reply of 21 Aug 08 , this is representative of what I consider to be (for what it's worth) "a common orb" . From personal experience , I've noted three separate and distinct types . These are : ( 1 ) The "typical" , as shown , which may appear to follow a subject , including right angles ; ( 2 ) "High Speed" orbs which are either bright white or some varying shade of yellow , and appear to leave a discernible trail because of time/distance factors ; and ( 3 ) Spheres that appear to "burst" with a brilliance akin to the intensity of a magnesium flare ... , a trail , a burst , and "nothingness" .
The sphere/orb as presented is representative of that which may be photographed on any given night , with absolute regularity , at a single given site (described elsewhere) . This particular example , photographed by me , involves my son-in-law ; there were only two individuals present at the time . Ambient conditions were as follows : Temp was 54 degrees F . There was no measurable wind . Airborne particulates : A likely zero (There were no contributing factors such as dust , pollen producing plants , haze , or fog.) .
Keeping the reply central to the topic of orbs , I somehow find it interesting (considering the content) that a most favored poet , Edna St Vincent Millay , should make mention of "spheres" in her poem "Renascence" , which was completed in 1909 .
Perhaps the most amazing thing , from my perspective , is the unwavering reproducibility of the phenomena as linked to one specific site .
Also , although I've so very many questions about the phenom , I was tempted to wax tangential apropos some seemingly related television theatrics , and how some cast and crew of same can bill themselves as "parapsychologists" without first meeting the basic A.P.A. requirements as a "regular" psychologist ... but I'll save that topic for the proper forum , kick back the soapbox , and trust in your tolerance .
I remain , thankfully , walt
