At least initially, they will either be friendly and offer to help us with environmental, economic and medical problems, or, and I believe more possible, they will be hostile though not overtly so. Or maybe a mix so we won't be too suspiscious. I hope I am wrong. But we'd really have to question the motivation behind a huge outpouring of benevolence when they have allowed us to languish for thousand of years in this hell-hole. I'd even have to question the motivation for their arrival if they made it look like we'd have to give something up in return for their technology and understanding. What could we possibly offer them that would be a bargain?

I guess the bottom line to this is: be prepared for ANYTHING when they arrive and don't trust them quickly. They should earn our trust, just like anyone else. Don't be so enthralled by their amazing toys that you allow your critical thinking to go out of the window. They may (and I really hope) be genuinely friendly and peaceful. If so, great. But the way this world works gives us a clue as to how the universe works. It is likely guided by the self-centered impulses more than anything else. When America was conquered it was for completely selfish reasons. Trade and commerce happens for selfish reasons. And those selfish reasons on a galactic scale could means we are simply a means to an end. What end is the potentially frightening part.

Obviously, the "visitors" have not seen fit to be polite, in human terms, enough to introduce themselves to us other than the cryptic and overly dramatic abductions that take place. And even more obvious is the fact that there are multiple types and species of aliens and we can't really pinpoint any single one as representative of ETs. So, whatever or whoever arrives, maybe several different types, be careful of who you trust.

I am just wondering..from what you have wrote...what about all the extraterrestrials that have been here for thousands of years?

This is certainly not new to our species...as it has been recorded..through out history..

If ET was unfriendly, the Human Race would not have survived on Earth, and you would not be posting at all.

All the negative information comes from the Military, who after PROJECT BLUE BOOk, dismally failed to convince the World that UFOs do not exist, so the next step was to trash ET, in the vain hope that we would lap up their garbage.

Ah yes extraterrestrial life has been moving through earth quite frequently in our past, I've heard legends of astral portals under the earth which allows the most elite of beings to move between worlds/planes/dimensions/whatever. I agree that our world could easily be controlled remotely, simply by controlling the great financial institutions, the international bankers of earth have kept nearly every government aspiring to be the "solitary world power" off track by charging them trillions in invisible interest over the centuries from war-debts. Who's to say who exactly decides such policy, and who exactly is behind the other tendrils of control? Money is just one aspect that happens to be in plain view, I'm afraid the others aren't, perhaps "media", "politics/bureaucracy", and "military" would be the other categories.

The USG has secret underground cavern systems (natural and fabricated) under the continental US where they conduct all of their "top secret experiments", "various covert-ops" and "meetings" which are too secret to be conducted on the surface. In fact, the US coasts are almost attached underground via a top-secret tunnel boring machine which uses some secret thermal process to disintegrate stone and soil at an alarming rate. These tunnels connect great underground complexes like Area-51 to others (so nothing has to be shipped above-ground). It is likely that communication and possibly even travel is already open between the earth and other planets and star-systems, and unfortunately, we, as a people, are not permitted to be involved, for whatever reasons...

Perhaps our planet's greatest problems stem from our unruly giant population, I doubt most advanced intelligences of our galaxy have populations nearly as vast as ours. Apparently most have below one-billion beings living on any-one planet (most below 500 million), compared to earth and our ridiculous 6.8 billion living people, it's no wonder the governments keep all of these secrets from us. Our populations are too large to be controlled completely, so we are suppressed into never even questioning the lies they feed us every day. This system has worked for untold ages, and now the seams of this "web of deception" are beginning to become undone... Great timing too, 6 billion displaced, dissident, and angry people going at each-others throats sounds like GREAAAAAT FUN!...

Physicist Stephen Hawking, in his book A Brief History of Time, suggests that "alerting" extraterrestrial intelligences of our existence is foolhardy, citing man's history of treating man in meetings of civilizations with a significant technology gap. He bluntly suggests that we "lay low".


I can't remember the exact quote but Hawking said something to the effect. "when an advanced civilization meets a less advanced one, it never turns out to good for the lesser advanced."

Basically a probe like "Voyager" is not a good idea, giving a race that is capable of intersteller travel a map to get here......

Besides the risk of transmitted disease we may have no immunity for, well to be honest for all we know they could see us as some off us see cows, just a food source. a quick place to stop of for some grub...

This is just my opinion!
It seems to me that predators tend to evolve the larger brains. Competition for food, outsmarting prey, higher protein food source,etc. It gives the animal an aggressive/competitive attitude, leading up the evolutionary ladder.
If evolution works the same on other planets as it does here, the the dominate life forms may be descended from a predator. This does not mean they will be aggressive, they may have moved beyond that. But it is the mental state that drives a species to want more and to try to find out where more is.
Most of humanity's advancements are driven by conflict, with each other and nature, we feel the need to explore because we are searching for something else.
An alien race that comes here is not out on a sunday drive, they are searching for something. Just like us, even if they aren't sure what they are looking for, just like us.
