Delayed during May 28, June 24 and June 26, 2009, yesterday the European Space Agency's Ariane 5 Rocket, with an ECA Upper Stage carrying the TerreStar 1 Telecommunications Satellite atop, blasted off from Launch Pad ELA-3, Kourou, French Guiana, South America, at 13:52 PM (EDT) / 17:52 PM (GMT).

TerreStar 1, the World's largest and most powerful Commercial Telecommunications Satellite, will provide Data Communications Services, Messaging and Mobile Voice Services throughout Nortrh America.

Biggest yet

Whilst Software packages are being made smaller and smaller, due to Nano Technology, the reverse is happening for Hardware.

This will now require larger and more powerful Rockets and thus with more Rocket Fuel to burn, will increase the danger during lift-off.

With the US Moon Base due to built in 2020, even larger Rockets will be constructed to ferry all the Building Material to the Moon.
