The Book Of THoTH

I've been a fan of Pi for a while now. I even have a few books about it.

A couple of questions for everyone:

1. Will the phenomenon ever be solved/ever have a final number?

2. Is it totally random...could there be a pattern somewhere?

Apart from the books, I have seen the movie Pi a few times and I recommend it. It just interests me a lot, how the great minds of our time have spent so much time trying to figure it out, finding new equations, and so forth. How can such a simple process of finding a ratio be so complicated and neverending?

I say, it must be a message for us...if we can ever figure it out.

That was a plot point toward the end of Carl Sagan's novel Contact; the expansion of pi in base 11 ends up containing a kind of message: a picture of a circle! Obviously that didn't make it into the movie but it's supposed to, if memory serves, leaves you wondering just who set it up that way. Sagan was great.

I had NO IDEA that the movie was based on a book. Looks like you just gave me a good recomendation Penthar.

As for Pi...

I have to admit I wish it would disappear (along with sin cosine and tangents)! I am currently in a trig class...online...which is NOT THE WAY TO LEARN TRIGONOMETRY!

Anyone fancy on giving me a crash course on the phenomena of "Pi"?
