I just wanted to give everyone a little heads up on a project I think is very cool. Documentary maker/UFO researcher/all around good guy Paul Kimball has put together a symposium, called The New Frontiers Symposium. Paul's assembled a really great list of speakers, and I'm sure it's bound to be a great time for anyone who can make it there, so check it out and see if you can clear your calendars!
Leading up to the symposium we're happy to announce that BoT will be doing a series of interviews with the speakers, as well, which will be featured on our front page. Check out our current front page article with some background about the symposium, along with each of the speakers, and keep an eye out for interviews from them as we lead up to the symposium date.

Up first, we've got a BoT interview with Paul Kimball himself. Check it out here and currently on the front page.
Coming up very soon...Mac Tonnies.

Oddthings has handled this fantastically, he does BoT proud, and it's because of him that all this has happened
If you live anywhere near the venue, GO !! this is one of the most promising symposiums so far, an excellent line up of speakers and subject matters. If anyone has any questions they'd like asking of the speakers, let us know very soon indeed and we'll see if we can tag them with the list we made.

Thanks THoTH. There's some really cool interviews coming up...Will Wise, Nick Redfern, Robert Zimmerman, Stanton Friedman, Greg Bishop...and if people here don't know Mac Tonnies, our next one up, he's a really smart and funny guy. Here's his version of the symposium poster.
Somehow I don't think that's the one Paul's going to be using.

Hey, why not!? Someone has to tell it like it is.
This is really great! I can't wait to hear the interviews. Wish I could make it to the symposium, but it's a little far. Are they going to go around to different cities? I hope so. This really needs to get all the exposure it can! It's really time...it's really past time for the world to know about these things.
OT your amazing. These speakers need all the help they can get. I hope this site can be one way.
Was thinking. If these people and the Disclosure people could get together. Make a documentary like no other. One filled with all the truths out there. There's got to be a way!

I bet it will be a wonderfully informative symposium. I'd have so many questions!
Hope it's a sellout!

Kira, wouldn't it be great if these guys could do more than one of these? I hope this one's successful so Paul at least gets his money back, and hopefully successful enough that everyone wants to do it again. I certainly wish him all the luck in the world. What if some of these guys got together with the disclosure folks? Maybe we can convince Mr. Documentary, Paul Kimball, to do something about that.
Look for Mac's interview up on the front page today, and Robert Zimmerman later this week!

Well that was good! I think I really like this guy. I truly wish I could attend that conference. Now I will argue with myself over it and see what comes of it.
Well done! Mr. Tonnies is certainly well spoken and I agree with him.
Thanks to Mr. Kimball and Mr. Tonnies for their time and sharing. We do appreciate it.

Well, if there are any questions, we've yet to interview some of the others including Stanton Friedman! Feel free to put them here, and OT and I can get them added beforehand. Not much time though...

Yes, Kats, much thanks to all these guys for their time. They're really a great bunch, and trying to do something very cool. Mac is certainly a great guy, very funny, well spoken, and smart. His blog is one of the more entertaining and informative blogs I've ever seen.
I have to send some well wishes to Mac, though. Poor guy's having gall bladder problems, and probably has surgery coming up soon, but thankfully he'll be fine in time for the symposium. I certainly wish him a speedy recovery, and anyone who wants to visit his site, http://posthumanblues.blogspot.com/, can comment on his latest news and send him some well wishes from BoT as well.
Robert Zimmerman coming up next.

Next up, UFO researcher/cryptozoologist Nick Redfern.
Enjoy.

As promised Nick Redfern's interview for your reading pleasure, which starts off with an interesting story, IMHO.
Quote:
BoT : You are a prolific writer on a wide range of topics, from UFO’s to cryptozoology. Can you tell us what was it that began your interest in the paranormal, i.e. the first influences and why that got you interested?
NR : Well, as far as cryptozoology is concerned, when I was about 5 years old, my parents took me to Loch Ness. We were on holiday in Scotland at the time. And they told me about what was supposed to be in the Loch and it really got my interest - even at that age! I remember being a little kid at school asking the teacher why they didn’t have any books in the school library on werewolves, Bigfoot, etc. I think the teachers viewed me as a weird little Damien-type character and left me alone...
With UFOs, it’s thanks to my dad that I got interested. He worked on radar in the British Royal Air Force and was involved in a couple of strange incidents where UFOs were tracked on radar and aircraft were scrambled. He told me how everyone was debriefed and told not to talk about it, so I knew something was going on and that got me interested in researching the subject. He still talks about it to this day.

Really enjoyed Mr. Redferns interview, as well as all of them. It's interesting to see how they all got to where they are.
I hope all goes well for Mac too. Gall bladder ailments suck. But with micro surgery now, it's much much better then it used to be. I'll try to get to his blog to do some well wishing.
Isn't it sad how money is always the detrement to progressing, especially in this field. It's such an important subject, then money always gets in the way.

Agreed Kira. The money's always the issue in any research, and sometimes it's hard, as a scientist, to realize that you're not going to get to spend all of the time on a project that you want to. I wish that research were funded better, but in the world we live in, teaching and scientific research frequently take a hit when money is diverted to other programs...
As for Mac, he's having his entire gall bladder out later today(Monday) and I certainly wish him a speedy recovery. He's been having some problems with it for a little while, but he's been told he'll be fine pretty quickly by the doctors. Lets just hope they take the right organ out.

Thanks to all the people checking out the Greg Bisahop interview! What a great response on that one. All the interviews have been great, and if you missed any of them, check them out now.
Stanton Friedman's interview is now up on the front page! What a great interview from a fascinating man. These individual interviews have been a lot of fun, and I won't repeat everything that I said on my blog here, so check out my post HERE.
And whatever you do, don't miss the interview with Stanton Friedman HERE. It's a classic.

It looks like I've been talking to myself in this thread for a couple of weeks, so don't mind me while I finish my thoughts.
We had a very successful interview series with each of the speakers, and I'd like to thank them each for their time. The symposium was this last weekend, and by all accounts it was a success. Each of the speakers brought a lot to the table, and had a lot to say.
Rather than reposting everything I've put on my blog, just check out the two postings below.
The really good news is that they're going to do a '07 symposium! The even better news is that they're looking to expand beyond this year's event...and the GREAT news is that they're looking at putting live streaming video on the web of the symposium next spring, so maybe everyone can "attend" on-line!

I'll reply my friend, I'm so glad to read all the good news about it, and I hope that it went really well. I think we need some follow ups on the events, although I think Pauls posted some on his blog.
The telecast sounds great, I mean Canada is too far for me
Hope theres some samples from the symposium, they'd be good listening too
