Rael
From The Book of THoTH (Leaves of Wisdom)
Raël (born Claude Vorilhon on September 30, 1946) is the founder and spiritual guide of the Raelian Movement. He was born in Vichy, Allier, France.
Before founding the Raelian Movement, Vorilhon was a sports journalist and a singer. He founded his own car racing magazine, Auto Pop.
Claude Vorilhon claims that he has experienced two extra-terrestrial encounters, which are the foundation of his ideology. The first of these encounters was on the morning of December 13, 1973. Whilst walking in Puy de Lassolas, Vorilhon claims to have seen a flying saucer that was landing slowly. An extraterrestrial being came out of the craft, and told him (in French) that he had come to meet him and give him a message and that it was Vorilhon's mission to pass this message on to people in every nation.
Vorilhon was given the prophet name Raël, which means The Messenger of the Elohim. His meetings with the human extra-terrestrial (named Yahweh) lasted for six consecutive days, one hour each day, and are described in his first book "Le Livre qui dit la vérité" (The Book That Tells the Truth), in which he claims that every life form on Earth was created by the Elohim (which was wrongly translated from Hebrew into the English word "God" but means those who came from the sky) - advanced human scientists from another planet with 25,000 years of scientific advances; some forty prophets in Earth's history were sent by the Elohim, but their messages were misunderstood and distorted by humans, largely because of the difference in the level of scientific understanding between the advanced race and our primitive one. Raël was given the mission of informing the world of humanity's true origins and building an embassy in preparation for the return of the Elohim. The extraterrestrials explained certain mysteries to him (which he recounts in his book), based on new readings of sacred texts such as the Bible. On October 7, 1975 he claims he was again contacted by the Elohim who took him to their planet. There he met Buddha, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad and received many teachings which are passed on in his second book "Les extra-terrestres m'ont emmené sur leur planète" (Extraterrestrials Took Me To Their Planet). He claims that he discovered wonderful, harmonious and peaceable beings who taught him a philosophy based on pleasure, love, knowledge and conscience, free of money, sickness and war.
Raël claims to be the buddhist prophet, Maitreya. He claims to be the Maitreya based on "evidence", such as the traditional date of the arrival of the being (Which is currently 3000 years after Bhudda, which is the exact date of Raëls revelation) and ancient Buddhist wall carvings which Raëliens believe to depict the arrival of UFOs in the mountains (Which Rael claims to have experienced), and symbols which Raël claims was used by the extra terrestrials, which were also shown in Buddhist wall carvings.
Coincidentally, the rock band Genesis also recorded the concept album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in 1973, which they released in 1974, chronicling a New York City streetwise Puerto Rican from the ghettos named Rael who went on a journey through his subconscious to eventual self-discovery.
