A Feynman diagram of the annilation of matter and antimatter. In this interpretation the particle and the antiparticle it collides with are in fact the same particle. The particle travels forward through time with positive energy but scatters off of a boson (force-carrying particle, e.g. photon) and finds itself travelling backwards through time with negative energy. This is mathematically equivalent to the view that the particle and antiparticle are in fact two distinct particles, both travelling forward through time.Penthar
