I think you'd end up with more of a mess Batty then a fine picture. It would be interesting to find out though.

Okay, here's a few things that are floating around up there, besides coincidence. Oil exploration or trying to get at something else. Weapons testing. Or, since it is a large enough area, underground particle research, or something along those lines. Just blame it on recent seismic activity type thing. Then again we could consider Kira's pollution. Another covert garbage solution?

Kira, the ground beneath us is changing as well as the atmosphere above. The weight from one driveway impacts the ground beneath it. If it is paved, even more so. The track from one pass of an all terrain vehicle across a bog leaves a lasting imprint. In more ways than one. It can easily turn into a small stream making its way from one end of the marsh to the other, creating an edge ecosystem which can then evolve into something else. The removal of the oil from the planets innards has to have an impact on the operation of the planet. How much of this oil was forced into cracks & crevasses by the pressure of the oil reserves keeping friction below ground to a minimum? They say they replace the oil. Does this react with the movements of the earth the same as the original. What about the expansion of this liquid through heat. Does the ground react the same?

Then there's the role of the other natural gases hidden below the surface. How do they react to the activities of the oil deposits? I'm sure it's like above ground. Adding or subtracting a component from the natural equation results in mismanagement. That leads to the disruption of the natural processes. Which often leads to dire consequences. I wonder where the once bountiful water reserves are going? Could pressure from oil reserves a thousand miles away have been keeping groundwater from dissipating? Know what I mean? The underground world is much more important to the picture & if someone is tampering with it, we could be in for even bigger troubles folks. Right on.

Well I finally got the CNN video to play. I also finished watching that series. If you want a good look at what the garbage patch consists of, watch videos 9, 10 & 11. The rest is not fit to listen to. It got worse throughout the series except for the 3 chapters I gave you.

When looking at the plastic particles, what makes it harder to see from above is the brighter colours are consumed while the blues & greens & transparent colours left over are not as easily detectable. Once immersed, it is a very different story. This far more serious than what we thought. Eventually this is going to turn into a toxic soup as the plastics breaking down absorb organic pollutants & incorporate them into the mix. Large clumps of debris ensnare the worst mixtures as they have more surface area.

The skipper & owner of the boat is the one to concentrate on in this story. He knows what he's talking about. He also has the patience I could never have for the antics of this journalist & his crew. At the early part of the expedition he deletes the ships course from it's navigation system from playing around with stuff he knew absolutely nothing that their lives depended on. This should have been a major production for the masses. I wonder if another group could be put together that would be a positive influence on the story. I expect something from NG on this one.

Anyway, sad story folks. Something has to be done big time here.

there has been a slight decrease in world temps for the last 10 years.

actually this was due to the eruption of the supervolcano, toba. which tossed so mush ash into the air it cause the droughts spoke of in the article (of course you would never hear that from cnn. they would like to say "humans roasting mammoth meat caused the drought" , but dont for fear of ratings, and that its obviously wrong, to even the mos uneducated person. not that that has ever stopped them before i guess).
toba put an estimated 2800 cubic kilometers (yes kilometers) of ash into the air. by contrast mt st helens put 1 cubic kilometer of ash into the air.

this is not to say that man causes global warming. the best answer i can give to that is that the northern glacial ice sheet (in places 2 miles thick) melted from covering nearly all of canada, and some ofhe us.these melted in less than 1000 yrs to nearly present positions. a global rise of 1 deg c per 100 yrs is shown to happen ~ 10,000 yrs ago. that is more than the alledged current rise (.7 deg c). and in fact in the last 10 years a slight cooling trend (.1 deg c) has been observed (thus the change in terms from "global warming" to "climate change").

maybe the atlanteans caused it by burning to much fossil fuels, nuking india and egypt or something. but the global warming crowd would never say that as hawking (or someone) would call them cranks and/or weirdos.
